Introduction

The IASC Guidelines on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) in Emergency Settings were launched in September 2007. These Guidelines reflect the insights of practitioners from different geographic regions, disciplines and sectors, and reflect an emerging consensus on good practice among practitioners.

The IASC Reference Group on Mental Health and Psychosocial Support is composed of more than 30 international agencies (UN agencies, intergovernmental organizations, Red Cross and Red Crescent agencies and nongovernmental organizations). The objectives of the Reference Group are 1/ to provide country support on implementation of the Guidelines 2/ to build capacity on the Guidelines and 3/ to interface with the Cluster system and key stakeholders.
