Overview

The Education Cluster Thematic Group on Early Childhood is working to support the mainstreaming of Early Childhood work in Education Clusters at field level. This is done by analyzing and synthesizing information gathered from research, case studies, successful practices and tools from the field, and using this information to develop tools and publications and to disseminate this information. Together, the group advocates for improved investments, policies, and commitment to action related to young children in Emergency and Transition situations.

The Education Cluster Thematic Group on Early Childhood works closely with, and shares members with the INEE Early Childhood Task Team (also known as the Early Childhood Working Group, part of the Consultative Group on Early Childhood Care and Development).

 Projects

  • ensure the needs of young children are systematically addressed in the work of Education Clusters by reviewing the products of the Education Cluster and providing technical support where relevant
  • develop a Position Paper and brief which explores current and emerging issues related to young children and emergencies, as well as recommendations for future action.
  • Conduct a series of field visits to inform capacity development of Education Cluster  and emergencies’ stakeholders activities to effectively act for children in these settings.
